East Helena Urban Chickens

  Raising chickens within East Helena city limits has been illegal since 1977, here Derik Reed holds one of his own days after the East Helena city struck down the ordinance.

 David and Julia Reed, Derik's children admire their neighbor, Rob Rankin's chickens. Rankin, next-door neighbor to Reed, has six hens of his own.

Helena Brewers Opening Week












Kids Design Playground

 Crayons in hand, Kimi Broadhurst(6) illustrates her dream playground Wednesday evening at the East Helena Volunteer Fire Hall.  Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana is partnering with KaBOOM!, a national non-profit that promotes active youth through community outreach, to build a new playground in East Helena and they asked children to help design it.

Alive @ 5 Opening Night

 Will Shropshire enjoys a fresh strawberry at the first Alive @ 5 of the summer Wednesday evening. A collection of local musicians calling themselves Big Soul took the stage and provided the crowd with some musical entertainment.
